VIMA SUNRIDER

Vima Sunrider is a character from the EU/Legends comic series Tales of the Jedi. She is the daughter of the Nomi Sunrider and the late Andur Sunrider, both Jedi Knights living 4,000 years before the films. Vima lived through the Great Sith Wars when her mother Nomi served in them as a Jedi Knight and later witnessed Nomi become the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order. As her mother's responsibilities expanded, Vima grew to feel neglected and stymied in her own wish to follow in her parents' footsteps as a Jedi. Consequently, she sought training from the reclusive Ulic Qel-Droma, the fallen hero of the Jedi and Nomi's former lover, whom Nomi stripped of the Force ten years before. This worked out surprisingly well. Vima is fourteen years old, petite, and usually dressed in practical clothing.

→ PERSONALITY

Vima comes from the days long before Jedi were expected to be paragons of emotional control and serenity, and it shows. Vima is enthusiastic and friendly and always interested in engaging with others. She is also the kind of person who always has to be doing something, and when she doesn't have productive options, she will make her own--which can and has ended badly. She's got a slightly excessive amount of self-confidence and doesn't always think things through before she does them, especially when she is bored or frustrated.

Thanks to years spent in the shadow of great Jedi, Vima is prone to feeling overlooked and neglected. She doesn't hesitate to show her displeasure when she feels this, and if she thinks she's at the bottom of your priority list she'll get tetchy. Moreover, it also spurs her into doing those unwise things previously mentioned. Although she's less likely to take foolish risks than she used to be, she can still be an impulsive teenager.

Having grown up as eyewitness to two galactic wars, however, Vima does have a serious side. As the daughter of two Jedi, Vima has always held them in respect, and her dearest wish has been to follow in her parents' footsteps. She takes her training and the philosophy of the Jedi seriously and has a deep reverence for the Force, trusting it to guide her actions. Vima is not one to take things at face value, even if it's a Jedi Master saying it. If she has doubts, she will go out of her way to see things for herself. She can be quite perceptive about others and is good at seeing what's actually there rather than what others believe, or wish to.

She is also a strong believer in the possibility of redemption. It's what led her to Ulic Qel-Droma as a teacher in the first place, believing in the good person he had once been as a Jedi rather than what he had become as a Sith.

→ ABILITIES

Vima is a Jedi and that means the Force. She can use telekinesis and fight with a lightsaber (and by extention, a solid weapon too), although her skills there are still in training and she hasn't developed any of the fancier Force abilities like healing, mind tricking, or status buffs.

More importantly, Vima possesses a strong sense of intuition through the Force--enough to stow away on the only ship that could find Ulic Qel-Droma and "know" that he would be a good teacher, even if she did have to jump a few hoops to make that happen.
